eHomeCare Learning Community

eHomeCare is an online training program developed to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based information on the care of children requiring complex medical care at home. The program consists of eight distinct courses aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of home care providers, including:

Caring for Children with a Tracheostomy with/without a Ventilator
The original eHomeCare five-part training program is designed to provide comprehensive information for those caring for children with a tracheostomy with/without a ventilator. Learners can use this educational intervention for initial training, an annual review, and as an ongoing resource.

Central Line Care
eHomeCare - Central Line focuses on providing essential care for children with complex medical needs who require long-term intravenous therapy. This training emphasizes meticulous care, adherence to best practices, and regular communication to minimize complications and ensure the safety and well-being of children with central lines.

Dialysis In Home
eHomeCare - Dialysis in Home empowers families to manage their child's renal health through home dialysis. Comprehensive training covers safe dialysis techniques, infection prevention, and equipment management. This program enhances a child's quality of life by providing flexibility, reducing travel, and increasing independence and family involvement in care.

Infection Control
eHomeCare - Infection Control emphasizes the importance of infection prevention in the home for children with complex medical needs. This training covers essential practices such as hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, safe equipment handling, and monitoring for infections. By consistently implementing these measures, caregivers can create a safer home environment and improve the overall health and well-being of their children.

Setting Boundaries in the Home
eHomeCare - Setting Boundaries in the Home emphasizes the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries within the family while caring for a child with complex medical needs. This training focuses on the benefits of boundaries for both the child and caregivers, including improved physical and emotional well-being, enhanced communication, and better support for the entire family.

Skin Care
eHomeCare - Skin Care focuses on the critical importance of skin care for children with complex medical conditions. This training emphasizes the prevention of skin problems, such as pressure injuries and infections, through proper care techniques. By prioritizing skin health, caregivers can enhance the child's comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life.

Range of Motion
eHomeCare - Range of Motion emphasizes the importance of ROM exercises for children with complex medical conditions. These exercises help maintain flexibility, prevent contractures, and improve overall physical well-being. The program provides guidance on implementing safe and effective ROM exercises at home, tailored to the child's specific needs and in collaboration with healthcare providers.     

Daily Care Activities for Children
eHomeCare - Daily Care Activities for Children focuses on the diverse range of daily care needs for children with complex medical conditions. This training provides guidance on supporting children with personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and other essential activities. The program emphasizes individualized care plans and the importance of caregiver training and resources to ensure optimal support for each child.
