UW Health Northern Illinois: Treatment Strategies for Common Problems in Primary Care
The focus of this seminar will be to provide instruction, resources, and patient care tools about common problems in primary care. Common problems include Opioid Abuse Disorder Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies, Migraine Care, Mental Health Treatment Strategies, and Using Diabetes Medications for Non-diabetes Treatment. We will also discuss the Integrative Management of Common Primary Care Conditions.

Intended Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants in primary care settings.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to...
- Identify and apply new diagnostic tools when caring for patients who use opioids, have a history of migraines, experience mental health issues, or other common problems in primary care.
- Appropriately prescribe diabetic medications for weight loss in the primary care setting.
- Describe specific integrative medicine approaches that can be used in the primary care setting.
- Explain the impact of health disparities on patient outcomes when caring for patients with common problems.
Elements of Competence
This activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of medical knowledge, employ evidence-based practice, and providing patient/person-centered care. This activity also focuses on the interprofessional competencies of roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the activity is designed to address the following DEI competency: addressing health disparities.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Requests for cancellation must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. Cancellation requests received at least 96 hours prior to the conference will allow a full refund except for the nonrefundable processing fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received less than 96 hours prior to the activity start date.
In the event that the in-person event is cancelled, the conference will move to a fully virtual format and your enrollment will automatically be transferred.
