Series Overview

Sessions aim to address developments in treating cardiovascular related diseases as well as practice issues identified in QA conferences. After participation in this regularly scheduled series, participants will be newly or better able to provide state of the art, patient-centered cardiovascular care to patients in the clinic, on the inpatient services, and in the diagnostic laboratory. The specific educational approaches we plan to use in this activity in order to address the educational needs include lectures and case‐based discussions.

Target Audience

Cardiovascular Medicine Faculty (MD, DO), Physicians, Fellows, Residents, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses (RN, APRN, LPN), Lab Personnel. Some sessions will be relevant to Internal Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Pediatric Cardiology.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 ANCC contact hour.  

ANCC pharmacotherapeutic contact hours will be calculated and awarded as appropriate per session to meet the needs of advanced practice nurses. 

AAPA Credit Designation Statement

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until 6/30/2022. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP, as a member of the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), authorizes this program for 0.1 continuing education units (CEUs) or 1 hour.

Global Objectives: 

As a result of participation in this educational series, participants will increase their ability to:

  1. Provide state-of-the-art, interprofessional, patient-centered cardiovascular care to patients in the clinic, on the inpatient services and in the diagnostic laboratory.
  2. Apply  knowledge to clinical practice in the areas of diagnostic testing for cardiovascular disease, use of newly released medications, and implementation of guideline recommended treatment for cardiovascular disease.
  3. Effectively communicate with the members of interprofessional, multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize management of the multitude of diseases involving the cardiovascular system.
