Series Overview

Schwartz Center Rounds is designed as an "Interdisciplinary Approach to Enhancing Patient-Centered Communication, Teamwork, and Provider Support". Schwartz sessions occur six times per year, offering healthcare providers a regularly scheduled time during their fast-paced work lives to openly and honestly discuss the social and emotional issues they face in caring for patients and families.

Target Audience

This program is open to all professions who may have contact with a patient at AFCH including but not limited to physicians, trainees, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, pharmacists, lab staff.

As a result of participation in this educational series, participants will improve their ability to:

  1. Discuss emotional and social issues that arise in caring for patients with the intent of fostering personal connections with patients and improving caregiver’s insights into their own responses and feelings while caring for patients. 
  2. Initiate discussions with the care team that highlight personal ideas, thoughts and feelings that arise while caring for patients in order to gain a greater appreciation for each team member.
