Series Overview

Pathology Grand Rounds provides continuing education and professional development for faculty in the Department of Pathology and related disciplines. Lecture topics encompass a wide range of pathology disciplines including surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, chemical pathology, transfusion medicine, and many more. The series offers opportunities for productive interdisciplinary learning between pathology faculty, clinical providers, and technical personnel.

Target Audience

The primary target audience is faculty physician pathologists at UW. Non‐UW pathologists may also benefit from the RSS. Nonpathology physicians will benefit from topics within their area of expertise, such as infectious disease specialists learning about MALDITOF diagnostics.

Pathology practioners and clinicians will be able to:

  • Identify emerging diagnostic schemes, disease classification schemes, technological advances such as the principles of MALDI-TOF as it applies to the microbiology in order to effectively manage cases.
  • Identify appropriate technology, protocols and workflows in order to optimize the quality and accuracy of pathology services and disgnoses.
  • Develop an appreciation of the roles and responsibilities of members of the interdisciplinary pathology field when establishing processes for implementation of new technologies.
