Series Overview

Pathology Grand Rounds offers a diverse range of educational opportunities in clinical and anatomic pathology. Examples include new technology in diagnostic laboratories, advanced diagnostic algorithms, and data storage, retrieval, and analytical tools. Image analysis, artificial intelligence, and block-chain technology are recent examples. Experimental advances in disease pathogenesis, emerging trends in laboratory-based health management, quality systems, and educational methods are among topics.

As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Identify emerging diagnostic schemes, disease classification schemes, technological advances, such as the principles of MALDI-TOF as it applies to the microbiology, in order to effectively manage cases. 
  2. Identify appropriate technology, protocols and workflows in order to optimize the quality and accuracy of pathology services and diagnoses.
  3. Develop an appreciation of the roles and responsibilities of members of the interdisciplinary pathology team, particularly with regard to addressing health disparities.
