Series Overview

This series utilizes lectures and case-based discussions enabling learners to provide state of the art, patient-centered cardiovascular care to patients in the clinic, on the inpatient services, and in the diagnostic laboratory. We aim to improve knowledge and competence among learners and clinical teams as they gain new information, skills, and team-based strategies to optimally practice within their subspecialty. This includes knowledge of new and developing research, technology, therapy and practice guidelines for treating cardiovascular related diseases, changes in our care delivery system, and practice issues identified in QA conferences.

MD/DO, RN, APRN, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Fellows, Residents, Lab Personnel, and Students.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 ANCC contact hour.

ANCC pharmacotherapeutic contact hours will be calculated and awarded as appropriate per session to meet the needs of advanced practice nurses. 

AAPA Category 1 CME credit

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until 6/30/2023. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.


Continuing Education Units

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP, as a member of the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), authorizes this program for 0.1 continuing education units (CEUs) or 1 hour.

Global Objectives: 

As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will improve  ability to:

  1. Provide state-of-the-art, inteprofessional, patient-centered cardiovascular care to patients in the clinic, on the inpatient services and in the diagnostic laboratory
  2. Apply  knowledge to clinical practice in the areas of diagnostic testing for cardiovascular disease, use of newly released medications, and implementation of guideline recommended treatment for cardiovascular disease
  3. Effectively communicate with the members of interprofessional, multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize management of the multitude of diseases involving the cardiovascular system
  4. Thoughtfully assess strategies to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts to better serve patients and address health disparities
