Department of Psychiatry IDEA Conference

July 29, 2022 to June 30, 2023

The Psychiatry IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism) Conference features speakers who present important information on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that affect individuals in the Psychiatry department and behavioral health settings. In a time of information overload, we strive to provide reliable, current, and comprehensive information. Members of the Department of Psychiatry will benefit from hearing the presentations and engaging in a question and answer session with the speakers. These educational events will be held quarterly from 12:00-3:00 pm at WisPIC (6001 Research Park Blvd).

Target Audience

This activity is designed for psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, administrative staff, and researchers within the Department of Psychiatry.

  1. Explain the most prevalent types of bias and discrimination in mental healthcare.
  2. Identify ways to work as an individual and within an interprofessional team to address issues of social identity and cultural humility.
  3. Provide interprofessional, collaborative care for patients with psychiatric illness while being mindful of potential diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
